Operations and Management
In KED Institute, our management hierarchy is perceived as very essential because with the help of a well drafted hierarchy of workforce, it is being possible to effectively evaluate the institute’s strategies, plan the actions to be taken in order to reach the business goals and to divide the organisational functions among the workforce effectively.
The institute’s level of management and duties are headed by the Director of Institute, and three Deputy Directors in covering Academic Affairs; Administration; and Finance and Strategy.
To emerge as a successful organisation, there should be a good coordination between all the levels of management as described below...
The Director of Institute
The Institute is headed by an Executive Director primarily responsible for the performance of the institute, as dictated by its overall strategy as follows: determining the institute’s strategic objectives and policies; monitoring progress towards achieving the objectives and policies; appointing staff; and accounting for the institute’s activities to relevant parties, e.g. our students, clients and shareholders.
Deputy Director ( Academic Affairs )
The Deputy Director in charge of academic affairs is an educationist responsible for overseeing all academic functions in the institute. The post holder leads students’ mentoring, counselling and advisory activities as well as ensures that all academic procedures are followed. Other functions are to oversee the performance of our diligent instructors and tutors who deliver courses, tutorials and revision sessions.
Roles under Academic Affairs
The work carried out by our trainers, lecturers and tutors vary according to individual areas of responsibility, delivering short courses, seminars and tutorials or revision sessions. Our short courses are led by our renowned affiliates. For our Edinburgh Business School (EBS) distance learning courses leading to the MBA and MSc we have well qualified tutors (approved by EBS) who lead the tutorials and revision sessions timetabled as required. For the EBS subject based courses, these are entirely self-sufficient and contain all the learning design and content necessary to master each subject. Distance learning students of EBS are provided with access to a course website and comprehensive course text. The course text contains all the theoretical material needed; there are no additional textbook requirements. Therefore, in preparation for examination, tutorial and revision sessions provided by EBS approved tutors must follow the already designed EBS course structure and learning materials.
Counselling and advisory Associates
We have specialist education Associates. Our experienced consultants offer one-to-one support for prospective and existing students. We pride ourselves on being able to tailor prospective student’s needs to the appropriate course and mode of study. Course selection as well as teaching and learning need or help in the development of specific area subject are also provided. These associates also support our marketing and event planning, creating or updating presentation files. Our consultants are experts in the field of education and have all experienced studying abroad, the UK in particular. Alongside full consultancy support, we provide outstanding demonstration lessons and display of various learning materials, including the highly sought EBS programmes, so prospective students can see our principles in action.
Deputy Director ( Administration )
A major part played in this role involves leading and directing employees and delegating administrative tasks to administrative coordinator and other officers, such as accounting, paperwork etc., while giving freedom to deal with other issues. In doing so, our deputy director in charge of administration ensures administrative efficiency, proper procedure, implementation of policies and employee morale.
Roles under Administration
The administrative coordinator provides various office supports. This position supports facilitation of student’s enquiries about admissions, drafting and distributing student mailings, filing student information, scheduling appointments and processing course order requests. The coordinator also include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing guests and visitors who book and use our board, conference and research rooms and offices as well as our study and library areas. The coordinator has extensive software skills as well as strong communication skills.
Preventive and Security personnel
We have preventive and security personnel in the institute who maintains safe and secure environment for our students, customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. They help prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; they contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Property maintenance and other services
Building maintenance, repairs, cleaning and related services are subcontracted out and provided when required. These are supervised by our administrative staff through team effort.
Deputy Director ( Finance and Strategy )
The incumbent leads the structuring of the overall plan of our organisation's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. The role extends to planning for finance and marketing as well as control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy.
